Given the scarcity of ‘wild’ porn stashes these days, perhaps we could pass the time till someone discovers and documents one by reminiscing about fondly remembered discoveries of our youth?
When I was a lad in Markfield in the early 1980s there was a phenomenal ‘porn library’ under a hedge at the end of a no through road just outside the village. I doubt it’s still there, but if anyone wants to investigate it, perhaps under cover of visiting the nearby ‘orchid verge’ on the A50, directions are as follows: take Whitwick Road north out of Markfield (towards Copt Oak), cross over the A50, then immediately turn left onto Cottage Lane. The stash was at the end of this road in a ditch under a hedge on the left. X marks the spot on the following Google Earth image (am I taking this too seriously?):

I didn’t actually find this one myself, but it was well-known amongst schoolboys at the time. I described it as a porn library, and that’s exactly what it was. It wasn’t organised according to the Dewey System, and I never met the librarian, but the quantity and variety of literature available here was staggering – the ditch was literally carpeted with filth, and that’s not just nostalgia playing tricks on my memory!
I paid many a visit to this treasure trove and there always seemed to be something new amongst the piles of decaying paper. Happy days!
